EMAC (Eastern Martial Arts Coalition)
The Eastern Martial Arts Coalition is an association of independently owned Martial Arts Schools and their students. EMAC allows schools to pool their knowledge and resources with the goal of furthering the martial arts, and the martial way through the sharing and development of skills, knowledge and wisdom. Through our association with EMAC, we have access to world class instructors, seminars, national rank recognition, as well as other opportunities such as group travel to martial arts destinations and the opportunity to train with other traditional martial artists.
The EMAC crest features the kanji 武 (bu, as in budo) which represents martial arts.
We wear the EMAC crest on our right arm to show that we are part of something bigger than just ourselves. When we display the EMAC crest, we represent the standards and values that the organization stands for – the same values our dojo has always held.
The mission statement of The Eastern Martial Arts Coalition is as follows and was written by EMAC president, Kyoshi Brian Lowry:
We are passionately committed to furthering the martial arts and the martial way through our own personal development of skills, knowledge, and wisdom, so that we can lead our members to improve their character, to achieve their full potential, and help them to develop courage, respect, and honour. As a non-political organization, we welcome those who respect traditional styles.
For the past three years, our dojo has been an active member of the Eastern Martial Arts Coalition (EMAC), a partnership that has opened up incredible opportunities for growth and collaboration. Through EMAC, our instructors have been able to take part in specialized training and build lasting connections with martial artists from across the region, all of whom share a passion for preserving and advancing traditional martial arts. The ranks our black belts have earned within EMAC reflect their dedication to ongoing development, not just as martial artists but as leaders within our community. This relationship has allowed us to explore new perspectives on teaching and training, bringing fresh insights back to our students. We’re proud to be part of an organization that prioritizes both technical excellence and personal growth, constantly inspiring us to raise the bar for what we can achieve together.
At the Martial Arts Center, people come first.
